Section members enjoy a choice of two walks of varying lengths each week, together with a yearly programme of social events and coach trips.  Participation in all activities including leading walks is actively encouraged.

Wed. 6th. - Bolton's Bench C.P. Ref: 304/081:  Leaders: Chris and Peter

Take A35 to Lyndhurst, drive straight through the High Street and turn Right opposite the Fire Station onto B3056 [Beaulieu Road]. C.P. is Immediately on your Left.  Walk is around Lyndhurst, diverting off to county byways, returning via countryside to the village. Slightly undulating and could be muddy in places.       Approx. 3.5 miles.

 

Wed. 13th. - Milford on Sea. Milford Village Sea Road C.P. [adjacent to Smugglers Inn]. C.P. Ref: 292/918.  [New Forest clocks for 3hrs or £2.50 for C.P. ticket]

Walk starts from the above C.P. A Streamside and Cliff Top walk:

Flat, approx. 3 Miles       Toilets.

 

Wed. 20th. - Highcliffe Walkabout. Cliffehanger  C.P.  Ref: 217/932  [Winter - no charge.]  Leader: Sue

Walk starts from Cliffehanger Restaurant Area. Approx. 3 miles.  Toilets.

 

Wed. 27th. - Portuguese Fireplace & Knightwood Oak

Knightwood Oak C.P. Ref: 262/064  Leaders: Monic and Keith

On A35 at Bolderwood & Rhinefield Crossroads turn Left into Bolderwood Drive.  

C.P. is on Left after approx. 200 yards.

The walk is mainly level with couple of slight inclines, walking boots advised. At the end of the walk there will be an opportunity to view the ‘Knightwood Oak’ which is just a short walk across from the C.P.       Approx. 3.5 miles.

Wed 6th - Wick Meadows, Old Council Tip & Hengisbury Head  Leader - Nigel Hicks

Meet - Wick Lane (free before 1 April) (Toilets) CP, Ref 152/922, or on roadside before CP.

From Christchurch bypass main roundabout past Waitrose take 2nd exit. Then 1st exit at next roundabout. Over Tuckton Bridge turn immediately L into Wick Lane. CP on LHS.

Wed 20th - Smugglers’ Walk Leaders - Ann & Bryn Male

Meet - Meet Smugglers’ Road CP, Ref 187/040. Turn off the A35 for Burley. Go through Burley and Burley Street, at the top of the hill go straight across on to road signposted ‘Crow’. CP is approx ½ mile on RHS.

 

Wed 28th - Keyhaven Coastal Path.  Leaders - Geoff Chester & John Chaston.

Meet - Lane just before Keyhaven CP, Ref 306/915.

At Milford, turn R down the side of ‘The Green,’ and then L into Keyhaven Road.

After approx 1 mile, turn L immediately before Keyhaven CP and park on RHS in lane. If full, go back to main CP and pay.

Wed. 6th - Brownhill Enclosure. C.P. Ref: 227/995  Leaders: Trish & David

Take A35 and after passing The East Close Hotel on your Right, then in approx.1.75 miles take the next turning Right onto B3058, C.P. is on Left after approx. 100 yards.

Undulating.                Approx. 3.5 miles.

 

Wed. 13th - Shatterford Car Park. C.P. Ref:348/064  Leader: Brian

Take A35 to Lyndhurst, drive straight through High Street and turn Right opposite Fire Station onto B3056 [Beaulieu Road].   The C.P. is approx. 3miles along this road on Right BEFORE

Railway Bridge.      Woods, heathland, and scenic views.   Slightly undulating:

Approx. 3miles.   Maybe muddy if wet.

 

Wed. 20th - Anderwood C.P. Ref: 248/057  Leader: Christine [278470]

Take A35 towards Lyndhurst. After PASSING Holmsley Junction  continue on A35 for approx. 3.5 miles and take the NEXT turning on Left.  Anderwood C.P. is approx. 1mile on Right.

Reasonably flat with a little Undulation:       Approx. 3miles.    Toilets.

 

Wed. 27th - Markway, Duck Hole and Holm Hill. Wilverley Plain C.P. Ref: 254/011

Leaders: David  and Bob.

From A35 turn Left at Holmsley Junction then at “T” Junction turn Right towards Brockenhurst.    C.P. is on Left near lone tree at top of hill, after 1.3miles.   Open heath and moorland walk with superb views.    Fairly dry.    Approx. 3.5miles Toilets.  

[ Should be reasonably dry underfoot even if we have rain.]

 

RAMBLES – MARCH 2019

Wed 6th - Godshill and Frankenbury Leader - Alan Baldwin  Godshill Cricket CP, Ref 182/150. On A338 Salisbury road, take slip road on L towards Fordingbridge. Then, at T Junct, turn R onto B3078 to Godshill. Pass Sandy Balls campsite and Fighting Cocks pub, then approx. 500 yds past pub CP on RHS by small cricket clubhouse.

 

Wed 13th - Tarrant Monkton & Tarrant River Valle.   Start 10.15hrs, 6 miles.

Leaders - Carol  & Terry Eden.  Meet - Langton Arms PH, Tarrant Monkton, (CP at rear of pub) OS Map 118 Ref 943/089, DT11 8RX.

From A31 Wimborne bypass take B3082 for Blandford Forum, past Kingston Lacey & Badbury Rings. At the True Lovers Knot Inn turn R immediately in front of the inn sign posted ‘Tarrant Monkton 4 miles’. Ignore all side roads to arrive at outskirts of Tarrant Monkton village. To avoid a river ford turn L at village sign and brown ‘Langton Arms’ Pub sign to pass village cottages to arrive at pub on the L.

Tables reserved from 1330 for those lunching. Orders food with landlord from 0945.

26 miles from Christchuch - allow 1 hour. Best avoid A338 Spur road & Avon Causeway due to ongoing roadworks.

 

Wed 20th - Holmsley Ridge & Inclosure Leader – Nigel Hicks  

Meet - Holmsley Caravan Park Ref 210/993.

On A35 take next L after East Close Hotel and then first R. CP is on R after 0.75 mile. If full, park on side of tarmac road. (This walk passes through the remains of the old WW2 RAF Holmsley airfield.

 

Wed 27th - Whitemoor and Hinchelsea Bog Leaders – Ann & Bryn Male

Meet Wilverley Plain CP, Ref 254/010.

Turn off A35 for Holmsley, then turn R at T Junction towards Brockenhurst. CP is approx 2 miles on left by lone pine tree.
